Children inspired by Olympics take part in sports camp
1:30pm Tuesday 14th August 2012 in News By Alexandra Rucki
Children inspired by the Olympics have been taking part in a sports camp which aims to help disadvantaged children.
The sports summer camps, which have been running in Chesterton Primary School, Dagnall Street, Battersea involve youngsters aged four to 12-years-old.
They were set up by Abdoullah Kheir, coach of Kick it Soccer School, who was assisted by a group of 11 young mentors.
Students have been taking part in sports such as tennis, basketball, dance and football.
Mr Kheir, who first began the project in Lambeth, said: "These camps are I believe successful by the young coaches I mentor and all the hard work given by these coaches.
"I believe having these coaches and giving them these opportunities only results in a positive outcome for the kids attending the camps and my coaches who gain valuable experience and life long skills."
The camps concluded on Friday with a medal giving ceremony to the young sporting stars.
