Thief jailed after being caught in the act

A Putney man has been jailed for five months after being caught red-handed breaking into a car.

Paul Michael Young, from Arabella Drive, broke into the parked car, in Bendon Valley in Wandsworth on July 9.

Sadly for Young, he decided to commit the crime in broad daylight and with the owner and his large friend inside the opposite house.

Having smashed a window and climbed into the vehicle though, he was spotted and the two men dashed outside.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to theft at South Western Magistrates Court on Thursday (August 16) where he received a sentence of 20 weeks.
