Katie Price amongst fans of mobile phone soap opera

Katie Price is one of thousands of fans of the world's first mobile phone soap opera whose episodes last just 3 minutes.

PERSONA, which is filmed in Clapham and Battersea, can be downloaded onto smart phones for free.

Each daily appisode - or app episode - lasts just three minutes but a cast of 60 actors stared in the latest series.

Early last year film director Don Allen, of Clapham, came up with the idea for a drama which can be watched as users waited for a train or ordered coffee.

Each appisode gets about 150,000 views a time, and has fans in the USA, Hong Kong and Japan.

A number of celebrities are fans, including Katie Price and Emmerdale actress Linda Lusardi, both of whom are set to star in it soon according to Mr Allen.

PERSONA is now onto its sixth series, with the next season set entirely in Clapham.

Mr Allen, who is managing director of the company, which makes its money through product placement, sponsorship and advertising, said: "The obvious challenges are it is three minutes long. We have a team of writers that are very good so that we lead the audience on and they want to watch the next day.

"We have shot all over the country as well, the majority is shot in London and majority of that is in Clapham.

"We've filmed in Revolution in Clapham Junction and restaurants down there.

"I always thought it would be a good idea, but didn't expect the amount of views we have got. I never imagined it would get so big so soon."

Viewers can expect to see a cast of professional and up-and-coming actors, with scenes focusing on relationships between the characters.

It is the first soap opera only available on smart phones and plans are now in place for Mr Allen to launch his own mobile phone app channel in October.

There is also the option for wannabe soap stars to appear in an episode themselves for a fee.
