Police have confirmed a person has been taken to hospital following an attempted robbery of a newsagents.

Firecrews and the police were called to Best One, in Fairfield Street, Wandsworth, at about 7am.

Petrol was used by the attackers in an attempt to rob the shop.

Firefighters managed to keep the fire under control and stopped the building from setting alight.

A person was arrested shortly after the attack, although police have not confirmed any further details.

The incident meant traffic was affected in the surrounding area.
