Man to stand trial for murder of Mahad Mohammed
A 19-year-old man will stand trial for the murder of a man found stabbed to death in a council estate.
Chukwurunim Dexter Ozour, of Glebe Path, Mitcham, is accused of murdering Mahad Mohammed in the Winstanley estate in Wye Street, Battersea.
He pleaded not guilty when appearing at the Old Bailey this morning.
Mr Mohammed, of Sporle Court, was found with stab wounds outside Pennethorne House, in Winstanley Road, on June 22, 2011.
The 20-year-old victim was found lying in a pool of his own blood by neighbours and was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
On the night of his death, Mr Mohammed had been to a bar in Streatham with his brother and they stopped at a convenience store to buy cigarettes on their way home.
Driving in an Audi, he took his brother home before returning to the Winstanley Estate, where a short time later he was stabbed.
Earlier this month two men were given life sentences for his murder.
Jermaine Sawyers, 19, and Cori Lindsey, 18, both of no fixed address, were found guilty following a trial at the Old Bailey.
Sawyers was given life imprisonment with a minimum of 20 years. Lindsey was given life imprisonment with a minimum of 14-and-a-half years.
A third teenager, Omar Harrison, 19, of Kenmore Road, Harrow, was also given nine years for manslaughter.
Mr Ozour will go on trial at the Old Bailey on November 19.
