A new school celebrated its opening with a special ceremony earlier this week.

The first intake of students at Wandsworth Preparatory School, in Allfarthing Lane, Wandsworth, celebrated the opening on Tuesday alongside their teachers.

Deputy mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Nicola Nardelli, cut the ribbon to officially open the new building.

Reception class students released balloons in the playground and created their own commemorative artwork to mark the ceremony.

Head teacher, Melissa McBride, said: "After months of hard work transforming the old Alvering Library into an active educational building once again, we’re thrilled to be officially open as Wandsworth Prep.

"In addition we have formed partnerships with The Little Gym,Virgin Active, Ruggerbeez and Fruity Tunes to support our broad syllabus."
