Clockhouse Place in Putney was evacuated due to fire
A block of flats were evacuated last night after a fire started in one of the properties.
Fire crews from Wandsworth, Battersea and Fulham were called to the second floor flat in Clockhouse Place off Lytton Grove, Putney, at 10.30pm.
Neighbours were temporarily evacuated from the block while firefighters tackled the blaze. The flat occupant wasn't home during the incident.
One firefighter said: "It appears to be an accidental fire in the airing cupboard, which spread rapidly to the bedroom.
"We managed to save about half of the flat."
The crews left the scene after three hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
