Lucy Thomas took on three triathlons for charity
A woman who only learned to swim this year has raised more than £1,000 for charity by completing three triathlons.
Lucy Thomas, of Beclands Road, Tooting, took on the challenge in a bid to raise funds for burns charity, The Katie Piper Foundation.
She first tested her skills at the Thames Turbo Sprint Triathlon, at Hampton Pool, in May and completed the Open Water Triathlon at Eastleigh Lake, on July 1.
In September she took on the Virgin London Triathlon, raising £1,065 in total.
She said: "I only learnt to swim properly at the start of the year, so this has proved to be a challenge indeed.
"I trained hard, battled injuries and a dodgy Thames tummy along the way, but was so happy to complete these challenges and raise over £1,000 for The Katie Piper Foundation".
Carol Borwick, head of fund raising, said: "We’re so grateful to Lucy for undertaking these events on our behalf and thanks to all who supported her so far.
"The money raised will help us make a positive difference to burns survivors through life-changing treatments and workshops."
The charity was set up by Katie Piper, a former model who was the victim of an acid attack and starred in Channel 4 programme My Beautiful Friends.
