Wandsworth woman Ethel Robrey celebrates turning 103 with tea party
12:00pm Friday 12th October 2012 in News By Alexandra Rucki
A woman celebrated turning 103-years-old yesterday by hosting a tea party in her sheltered accommodation.
Ethel Robrey, who lives in Yew Tree Lodge, Pringle Gardens, Tooting, still cooks and takes care of herself.
Family and friends attended the party and enjoyed cakes, alongside Yew Tree Lodge staff.
The great grandma was born in a cottage in Priory Grove, Lambeth, back in 1909 - the same year Woolworths opened their first store and Manchester United won the FA Cup for the first time.
She married love of her life Charlie Robrey, aged 22, in All Saints Church, in Lambeth.
They went onto to have five boys and two girls, named Charlie, David, Kitty, Brian, Teddy, Doreen and Raymond.
Great niece, Debbie Zevka, 54, said: "She still cooks for herself and has the occasional wander to her local shop. A truely wonderful lady."
"Ettie had a lovely day with her family and friend."
