Students from Wandsworth are one of the first to sign book marking International Day of the Girl

Students from Wandsworth schools were among the first to sign a larger than life book to mark International Day of the Girl.

The larger-than-life book installed by children’s charity Plan UK, is intended to highlight the importance of education for girls worldwide.

The book was unveiled at the Tower of London on October 11, to raise awareness of the first ever International Day of the Girl.

It was first signed by presenter Cherry Healey, followed by Evie Edgar, Emily Craig and Ellie Guven, all 14, from St Cecilia’s School in Southfields, and Hannah Davis 13, and Tilly Holmes from Graveney School in Tooting.

Plan’s unique book installation is user-generated, reflecting the views of people across the country who will be sharing what their education has enabled them to do.

The public are invited to sign the book and add their own personal message by telling Plan UK – “Because of Education I Can…”
