A Murder investigation has been launched after a man was found knifed to death.
The emergency services received calls at 1.40am yesterday after reports a man had been knifed at The Chequers pub, in Chequers Road, Writtle, near Chelmsford.
A man in his 30s is believed to have received stab wounds while inside the pub.
The pub was not open at the time.
Police have arrested a 56-year-old man from East London on suspicion of murder.
A post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday. The cause of death was given as a single knife wound to the chest.
The death at the pub comes within a week of a licence being granted by Chelmsford Council.
The pub had been closed since November before the licence was granted last Monday.
