A couple from Blackburn have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Harry and Elsie Mussenden, who now live in Rossall, near Fleetwood, married 60 years ago at James Street Independent Chapel, Blackburn when they were just 21 and 19.

Harry, a keen darts player, was known as ‘Mussy’. They ran a sweet shop in Eanam and were stewards of Furthergate Working Men’s Club, later living in Lyndhurst Avenue, Redcap and Brownhill, Blackburn.

Elsie also worked at Prestige in the shipping office, until they moved to Blackpool in 1978 to manage The Mariner’s Bar, Norbreck.

They received many cards from friends and family, plus an unexpected one from the Queen. They celebrated the day with their daughter Janet and grandson Harry.

Would you swap your life in Canada for a computer generated "Thank you" from your Queen? Have you been to the UK lately? Thank your lucky stars that you left this sh1thole of Blackburn. Don't complain, please.
