The latest must have gadget nearly cost a man his life after he was attacked with a knife by two men outside his home.

Mohamad Masri, 45, from Cromwell Close, Chiswick, was carrying the must have Playstation 3 console from his car to his house when he was accosted by two black teenagers.

He managed to push one of his assailants to the floor but was unable to do anything about the second who tried twice to stab him in the chest.

However, neither blow felled Mr Masri as his jacket somehow stopped the blade short. Mr Masri said: "I will treasure this jacket for ever. It saved my life and fortunately I have survived to tell the tale."

After the incident, which occured around 8.55pm on Tuesday, the youths ran off towards the bypass near Grove Park.

Mr Masri said: "I didn't know I had it in me. Obviously when something belongs to you, you are willing to fight for it.

"This was a fight against thugs and I really hope other people will be able to take strength from this."

The suspects are described as black, male and about 17 years of age. Both were wearing hoodies, one cream beige, the other, dark.

Mr Masri said: "I've been watching all these stabbing incidents on television recently and you really don't expect this sort of thing to happen on your own doorstep. You should feel safe when you get home."

"Since the incident I've been half in shock, I've been drifting in and out and dozing like I'm miles away."

"Police say the suspects are well known in the area and have taken a statement from me. I really hope they catch them."

"I just thank God I'm alive."
