On Saturday evening, May 13th, Something Wicked Theatre are staging a rehearsed reading at The Putney Pantry, St Mary's Church, Putney.

The reading, by professional actors, is of a new film script, entitled 'Divine Marquis', based on the stage-play of the same name by John Phillips. This play was staged at The Barons Court Theatre in 2008. The subject of both play and now film script is the forbidden love affair between the Marquis de Sade and his young sister-in-law who was a novice Carmelite nun.

The author is a well-known authority on Sade and his works. Phillips has published six books centred on Sade's life and fiction, including studies and translations.

The principal aim of the event is to arouse interest in the film script which tells a story that has not yet been told in film or television, but of course all are welcome to come to the reading. During the interval and before and after the event, the Putney Pantry will be open to sell food and drinks, including wine.

Tickets can be reserved or purchased on the door which opens at 7.00pm.
