St George’s Hospital Charity looking for new trustees to play a key role in supporting the vital work of the charity and its ambitious future fundraising appeals.
Each year the charity touches the lives of the thousands of people cared for by St George’s and Queen Mary’s Hospitals and community services in South West London, enhancing the patient experience by providing everything from state-of-the-art equipment, ground-breaking research, support groups, art, musical therapies and more.
Since 2010 the charity has raised more than £12 million and spent a further £8 million from reserves for the benefit of patients and staff.
Trustees are vital in ensuring that the charity continues to develop its services over the next few years, making a huge difference to healthcare in South West London.
Martyn Willis, chief executive of St George’s Hospital Charity, said: “We are looking for people with the commitment and experience to help promote and support our vital work.
“Over the years we have raised significant sums of money which has enabled us to deliver crucial additional benefits for patients; and in future, as well as continuing with this work, we will be moving into a new phase by developing more ambitious and far-reaching fundraising appeals.
“Not only that, the new Board of Trustees will help guide the charity through an exciting new phase in its history which will see us, along with most other NHS charities, convert to a charity independent from the Department of Health. This means that whilst the charity will continue to work closely with the Trust, it will be governed by its own Trustee Board so successful candidates will need to have an understanding of the pressures the NHS is under and it’s very complex environment.”
St George’s Hospital Charity is looking to appoint up to three trustees and would love to hear from people who feel they have something to offer with knowledge or experience of local healthcare issues, fundraising, marketing and communications, the business community and because of our diverse community they would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic group candidates.
