Dear Sir/Madam

I would like the Wandsworth Guardian to investigate what is happening to my local community pub. I am a Battersea resident and I am forever reading that Wandsworth council will not be letting any more community pubs close in the area if there is objection in the local community.

Flanagans Battersea which is opposite the Battersea dogs and cats home which has been featured in Paul O Grady's love of dogs, and has been threatened with closure and demolition now for the past 12 months. There has been a petition and objections to its closure on Wandsworth councils planning application site.

The developer who wishes to knock it down to build luxury flats and zero social housing, has approached Wandsworth council for a second time after its plans to build sky scrapers were rejected.
The community which uses the pub are made up of Irish, central/east Europeans and British people. It is a way of people coming together and integrating with each other in what are troubled times.

I would like to ask Wandsworth council if they really care about community cohesion or whether money and greed come before everything, and also tell them that the people who use Flanagans of Battersea will be voting Labour in the upcoming election as they have tried to stop the closure.
