Caring for a newborn can be challenging if not daunting, which is why founder of Helper Bees, Dr Tamara Bugembe, launched a specialist newborn childcare service assisting parents with their new addition to the family.

Employing retired, practicing and student, midwives and nurses, London based Helper Bees provides ad-hoc care allowing parents to rest, recharge and regenerate through the assistance of a paediatrician led team.

Giving reassurance and rest-relief to new time parents, the Helper Bees team also recognise Post-Natal Depression (PND) symptoms, a common problem affecting one in ten women every year, signposting parents to the appropriate agencies.

Dr Bugembe advises that: ‘Helper bees is more than a babysitting service, it’s about addressing problems that have a huge impact on society. In setting up Helper Bees, I wanted to make sure that it was also a service which helped parents battling post-natal depression, in the tasks and areas that were most important to these families’.

Helper Bees also provides specialist newborn care, providing specialist experience in assisting babies with feeding difficulties, sibling adjustment to premature babies, twins and triplets.

Providing more than a standard childcare service, Helper Bees is set to give first, second and third time mothers the opportunity to reach out and avoid feeling isolated and daunted by the prospect of a newborn in the household.
