We were really thrilled to be present at the soft launch of New Gala Market. Nigel McCann, a member of Wandsworth Foodies, has been working hard since December to organise and launch this excellent new market for Tooting.

We have been working closely with Nigel and have seen how hard he has worked to get this market up and running. As many of you know, finding space to trade is one of the most difficult challenges for any food start up. Therefore, to have a new space for traders is a fantastic opportunity and one that rarely comes. Well done Nigel.

It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces trading today. Andrew from Saffa hut with his wonderful South African Bunny Chow. Diana and James from Dirt Oats, with their lovely healthy oat deserts, both Wandsworth Foodies members.

I also very much enjoyed meeting (and tasting) the wonderful Columbian food from Arepa and the flavoursome Paella from Golden Rice. There were other great foodie stalls there with lots of colour and diversity. All of them yummy! We really cannot wait to see how this market grows.

A special thanks to Tooting Gala Bingo for partnering with New Gala Market and giving them the space on their property.

Another big thank you to the market’s sponsors, The Ramble Inn, Ace Mica Hardware Ltd, Mercer Taylor, Martin Haughey Electrics, Pearl Chemist Group, Permanex Plumbing & Maintance, PWC International Ltd, The Glass Shop, Polaccount and Daniel James Estate Agents.

The market officially launches on Saturday July 1st and will run every Saturday from 12 noon to 8pm. There will be more stalls opening next week and there are also drinks, crafts, home decor and art to peruse.

So, get on down to New Gala Market, just passed the Tooting Gala Bingo Hall on Mitcham High road and enjoy a wonderful Saturday. Highly recommended!
