Strutton double sets up Dons win on FA Cup night of drama at Kingsmeadow
10:24pm Monday 12th November 2012 in Sport By Tim Ashton
We're through: Dons striker Jack Midson celebrates scoring his side's fourth goal to clinch a 4-3 extra-time triumph over York City
AFC Wimbledon are one step closer to playing MK Dons in the second round of the FA Cup after seeing off 10-man York City 4-3 in extra time.
The Dons must wait until tomorrow night to see if they face a winnable trip to Cambridge City or the controversial and emotive journey to Stadium MK.
A Seb Brown own goal in front of the ESPN cameras gifted York the lead before a Charlie Strutton brace had Dons 2-1 ahead.
York's Scott Kerr was sent off for a rash challenge on Rashid Yussuff in the build up to the Dons equaliser - Yussuff was soon withdrawn by Neal Ardley to be replaced by Stacy Long.
Dons appeared to be heading through inside 90 minutes until York sub Jamie Reed popped up with an injury time equaliser for 2-2 to set up the extra 30 minutes.
The first period of extra time belonged to the Dons with Byron Harrison and Jack Midson knocking the stuffing out of York with two quickfire goals.
The second half was checkmate with York pushing forward and Dons happy to contain and attack on the break.
Clarke Carlisle poked home a third York goal with just moments left to set uyp a nervy finish, and seconds later Strutton had his hat-trick, only for the referee to pull play back having already blown for a Dons free-kick.
More to follow.

but i doubt you will have the ref in your pocket in future,
just how did Gregory remain on the pitch is a complete mystery.
Ref keith stroud demoted from the top flight and we wittnessed why last night,
it should have been 10 v 10 and a york a penalty kick too the good,
i know you hate MK ( and the letter between c and e) but i think you will be blasted out of sight at there palce good luck all the same.
see you in march ;)
