Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Mark Harper will resist making wholesale changes to his squad, pointing out the return of Tom Hickey could be just the lift his side needs.

The Beavers crashed out of the FA Trophy 3-2 at Chelmsford City on Monday night, compounding the misery of Saturday’s home defeat by the same score to Bury Town.

Harper’s men have lost their past four league games, but while Ryman Premier League rivals Kingstonian and Met Police have dipped into the transfer market to arrest their respective declines, the Hampton boss remains happy with his lot – just.

“I’d be foolish to say I wasn’t looking around,” said Harper.

“I’m happy with the squad. I don’t want to release anyone, but a new face to freshen things up would be good.

“Tom Hickey coming back from a five-match suspension could be like a new signing for us.”

“He will give us a bit more bite in midfield and allow the flair players to do their stuff.

“We’re still playing good football at a high tempo and playing teams off the park, but this is a results-based game.

“We’re making mistakes at the back, but you get that at this level. We’re not having  luck in front of goal that we did and we have to start taking our chances.”

Neil Jenkins and Charlie Moone were on target for Hampton on Saturday, with Jenkins and Mo Bettamer getting the goals on Monday night.

Hampton go to Wingate & Finchley tomorrow.
