Bees keeper Simon Moore reckons Tuesday's 2-0 win over Stevenage stands Brentford in good stead for the rest of the season let alone Sunday's FA Cup trip to Chelsea.

The 22-year-old kept his ninth cleansheet of the campaign as sumptuous strikes from Tom Adeyemi and Marcello Trotta at the end of each half secured boss Uwe Rosler's men their second League One win of 2013.

The recent run of form has resulted in only goal difference separating the promotion-chasing Bees from seventh place Yeovil Town, but Tuesday's triumph at least means the Griffin Park outfit are just four points adrift of new league leaders AFC Bournemouth.

Brentford travel to the European champions on Sunday and, while the Stevenage succcess win will put a spring in the squad's step, Moore admitted it was more significant for the club's league ambitions.

"It was really important to get a win, when you look at the teams around us who are creeping up on us like Yeovil, who are doing really well," he said.

"It was our first win in five. I think our performances have been good in the last few weeks, we just haven't been able to get results.

"It was a massively important win for us. We've got a lot of important games coming up between now and the end of the season and it stands us in good stead for them.

"We dominated the game and we deserved the three points."
