Former AFC Wimbledon defender Jamie Stuart is hoping his old friends at Kingsmeadow can keep the Dons in League Two.

Stuart made more than 50 appearances for AFC Wimbledon, but was released in the summer before being snapped up to become the Sutton United skipper.

And after scoring his first goal of the season for United on Tuesday night, the 36-year-old turned his attentions to his former Kingsmeadow friends.

He said: "The Dons are fighting for their life down there and I don’t want to see them go down.

"I enjoyed my time there – the fans and everyone associated with the club are tremendous and they deserved to get into the Football League.

"I just hope for everyone associated with the club that they do stay up and I wish them all the best."

Stuart was part of the Dons side that won promotion to the Football League in 2011, and we went on to make 33 League Two appearances.
