Walton Casuals manager Mark Hams will become one of the best in the business, so says his former boss.

Hams took over the Waterside Drive reins in the summer after six years as assistant to Kingstonian chief Alan Dowson.

He has led the Stags to the top of the Ryman Division One South table and the Kingsmeadow boss has no doubt his old pal will go a long way in the game.

“Walton were at rock bottom last season, but he has brought in his own players and turned it around,” said Dowson.

“He works so hard and I think he will become one of the best in the business.”

Casuals, featuring new signing Lee Hall in midfielder, returned to winning ways with a thrilling 3-2 win at Redhill on Saturday.

Scott Day and Connor French had given their side a 2-0 lead, only for the hosts to level matters with five minutes to go before Malik Ouani struck a last-minute winner.

Meanwhile, Met Police boss Jimmy Cooper is hoping he has stumbled on the answer to his side’s goalscoring woes.

Former Chipstead man Tyrone Pink, signed last week, bagged a hat-trick in a 7-1 friendly win over Molesey on Tuesday night and will be in the team travelling to Thamesmead Town in the FA Trophy tomorrow.

Couple that with the return of Allan Tait, who scored the 85th minute winner in Saturday’s 2-1 triumph at Leiston, and Cooper is hoping the free scoring run continues.

“I was a relieved man on Saturday. Again we created many chances, but couldn’t score,” he said.
