Croydon Harriers put on a good show at Stoke Park

Croydon Harriers’ young athletes enjoyed two top eight finishes at the Surrey young athlete cross-country relays at Stoke Park in Guildford on Saturday.
The U17 men finished the 3x2.5km course in sixth out of 18, thanks to Laurence Johnston (seven minutes 41 seconds), Kartik Iyer (7:51) and Rob Spalding (7:34).
Spalding ranked 19th out of the 40 athletes in the field.
In the U15 boy’s category, Kieron Connor brought the team home in eighth with the 16th fastest time of the day in 7:51 after good work from Omar Harhara (8:05) and Charlie Brackenborough (7:56).
The B team of Luke Wakeling and Dane Lawrence were 13th after two legs. 24 teams participated.
Stevie Lawrence continued her return from injury by clocking the 10th fastest time in the U17 women’s competition in 8:45.
At the East Surrey League race at Lloyd Park, Alan Burn led a 10-strong Harriers contingent home in sixth position, and at the Lloyd parkrun, Abbie Burrett was first home in the women’s category.
