London Broncos stave off the creditors
Crisis club London Broncos will go into administration in attempt to stave off action from creditors and preserve the outfit’s future.
Broncos – who finished second-bottom in this year’s Super League table – confirmed they would not be at the Stoop in 2014 earlier this year, amid rumours they were facing the threat of owner David Hughes withdrawing his financial backing.
A raft of players and backroom staff have already quit the club, with 20-year-old half-back Mike Bishay the latest of the playing staff to confirm he wanted out.
Head coach Chris Rea only has five players remaining on his books, despite the club having been included in next season’s fixture list.
It is hoped the decision to appoint administrators will give the club time to work with the Rugby Football League in a bid to secure their long term future.
The Broncos are reported to be in talks with Conference Premier club Barnet FC over a possible move to north London.
