Striker Clayton Donaldson's match winning exploits against Peterborough United came as no surprise to Brentford boss Uwe Rosler.

The 29-year-old latched on to substitute Farid El Alagui's flick-on three minutes from time to fire the Bees to a 3-2 League One win over promotion rivals Posh on Tuesday - their seventh win in eight games.

It completed a thrilling comeback as Brentford came from 2-1 down through George Saville's 81st minute header and then Donaldson's drive to back up Saturday's impressive 0-0 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"It was a fantastic finale. You can not get it better than that in terms of drama. In terms of excitment, it was just brilliant," said Rosler.

"We needed a little bit of extra quality and I thought our talisman Clayton, for the whole 90 minutes, played very effectively. He was very much involved.

"Sometimes in the past he has disappeared in games before coming back strong again, but he was on it from the first.

"He was very, very good and he scored the winner - I'm not surprised."

Brentford had led 1-0 at the break through a Gabriel Zakuani own goal, but Peterborough hit back to lead through two goals in as many second half minutes from Jack Payne and Britt Assombalonga on the hour.

The introductions of subtitutes Will Grigg, Sam Saunders and El Alagui - in particular - played a key role in the turnaround, much to the delight Rosler, who was impressed given the exploits of his side at Molineux three days earlier.

"The last two matches in terms of temopo and quality have been absolutely Championship level. The way we turned it around was an enormous effort," he added.

"I saw some tired legs for the first time because the intensity over the last two games was enormous.

"The three substitutions gave us a massive lift. They performed. They did not just come in and do a job. They lifted us.

"To turn it around in that fashion at the end of the game. I've had some very good wins at this football club and that was one of the best against a very good team."
