Stevie Lawrence led the Croydon Harriers challenge at the Max Sports Surrey women’s cross-country league on Saturday at Farthing Downs after finishing fourth in the U17s race.

The Warlingham school student completed the undulating 2.5 mile course in 17 minutes 51 seconds. She was eleventh overall in the competition when combined the U15s category.

Club colleagues Naomi Carty (45th, 20:29) and Josie Kavanagh (55th, 23:14) provided solid support.

In the women’s race, Miriam De Souza kept the Croydon flag flying, crossing the line in 223rd out of over 300 finishers.

In the pick of the parkrun action, David Chambers notched a new lifetime best at Banstead Woods in 18:14 finishing fourth, and Omar Harhara was fifth at Riddlesdown in a new PB of 18:54.

This weekend sees the inaugural Lloyd ParkRun mob match on Saturday and on Sunday a number of youngsters will be tackling the Christmas Holly Run races at Reigate.
