Kingston YMCA Hawkers tennis players will be among the opposition when a host of tennis professionals past and present bid to raise money for charity.
Former British number ones Tim Henman and Jeremy Bates will partner Stuart Rhodes and Danny Sapsford as they play a 24 hour non-stop tennis marathon in aid of Bright Ideas for Tennis.
New Malden’s Mel South is also taking part in the event at the National Tennis Centre, Roehampton, on February 2, where players from 11 Surrey clubs – including the Hawkers – will be helping out.
The charity aims to increase membership at tennis clubs across the UK and improve facilities and four-time Wimbledon semi-finalist Henman was only too happy to get involved.
“Inspiring players of all ages and abilities, raising participation levels and improving facilities are fundamental to improving the overall standards within the game and this is exactly what Bright Ideas are doing,” he said.
“I share their commitment towards these goals.”
