Old Ruts coach Darren Ramen said his old friend Ken Hau would have been proud of the day held in his name that raised £11,000 for the British Heart Foundation.
Hau passed away last year, and his club held a memorial day on Saturday that saw a Ken Hau All Stars side lose 33-12 to the Old Ruts first XV.
Ramen said: “Ken Hau was a great mate of mine and he would have been massively proud of the effort that everyone at the Old Ruts put into making the day a success.
“Special mention must go to Jason Court and Adam Perrin, who without their relentless efforts, the day would not have gone ahead, and of course to Mick the goundsman – without his skills the game would not have been playable.”
