Harry Aikines-Aryeetey left the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield a very disappointed man on Saturday following his disqualification in the British Indoor Championships men’s 60m semi-finals.

The 25-year-old Sutton & District sprinter, who clocked 6.72secs in his opening heat, got out of his blocks before the gun sounded and was immediately directed back to the dressing rooms.

“I’m disappointed,” said Aikines-Aryeetey, who was hoping to qualify for next month’s IAAF World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland.

“I feel like I heard the gun. It is what it is really.”
