Quins are not even in the Premiership play-offs yet, but fly half Nick Evans knows lifting the title will taste sweeter than the club’s maiden success in 2012.

The 33-year-old former All Black was the catalyst for Sunday’s comeback at Exeter Chiefs that saw his second half try and further scores from Danny Care and Tom Guest help his side come back from 23-5 down to pip their hosts 30-29 for a bonus point victory.

It means a win over Bath at the Stoop on Saturday will land them a top-four finish in a campaign that has seen director of rugby Conor O’Shea’s team ravaged by long-term injuries to a host of first choice stars.

Quins won the Aviva Premiership two years ago, having topped the table for most of the season, and Evans admitted that coming from behind to repeat that feat this season would be a moment to savour.

“It would be a huge achievement,” he said.

“We’ll give it our best shot.

“We’ve got a huge amount of team spirit and when you battle back from that adversity and get to the top it is the greatest feeling.”

The Quins injury crisis saw winger Ugo Monye deployed in the centres earlier in the season, but he marked his return from injury in his favourite position with a fine first half try on Sunday.

O’Shea’s men left it late to secure the spoils, but Evans reckoned that could play in his side’s hopes this week.

“Momentum is huge in sport and we have got a bit of that,” he added.

“In quarter-final rugby anything can happen and hopefully we will take our chance.”
