Sprinter Rechmiel Miller was the star of the large contingent of Hercules Wimbledon medalists in the annual Surrey County Championships at Kingsmeadow stadium last weekend.

The 15-year-old stormed to a thrilling victory in the men's U17 100m event on Sunday in a lifetime best of 10.83 seconds to snatch the gold medal by a whisker.

The teenager would have gone even faster had he not been racing into a 1.8m per second headwind.

It was the first time he had broken the 11-second barrier with his previous non wind-assisted best time 11.01 set in July last year.

His younger brother Chad came close to making it a family double but he was narrowly beaten in the boys U15 boys 200m final in a lifetime best of 23.82secs, taking the silver medal.

Chasing him to the line was his Hercules Wimbledon club mate Ralphael Buckle, who took the bronze medal in 24.40secs, after clocking a faster 24.05secs in finishing second in his heat.

Chad also took the bronze medal in the 100m in 11.82secs after clocking a lifetime best of 11.7secs in his heat.

Another Hercules Wimbledon title winner was javelin thrower Marco Ravic, who took the gold medals in the men's U20 event with a lifetime best throw of 40.67m.

The youngest of the Hercules Wimbledon sprint contingent in action was Jaleel Roper who raced to two silver medals in the boys U13 100m and 200m events in lifetime bests of 12.49secs and 25.52secs.

Max Mondelli had to settle for silver in the men's U20 in 10.86secs.

Another sprinting medallist was Tallulah Atkin who took bronze in the girls U15 100m in 13.81secs, also a personal best time. Emily Martin took silver in the senior women's long jump with 5.57m.

Teenager Cassian Hyde was just pipped in a tight battle for the men's U20 3,000m gold medal where he had to settle for silver in nine minutes 1.49secs.

David Harris took silver in the pole vault with 2.70m after clearing a personal best of 2.80m at Watford three days earlier.

Fred Slemeck was the club's eighth men's silver medal winner, finishing runner-up in the 1,500m in 4:04.55.
