Chris Dack, Mollie Renfer and Mary Iheke led the Kingston & Polytechnic Harriers medal charge at the South of England U20 and senior championships over the weekend.

Dack, 31, set a new personal best of 15.81 metres to win men’s shot gold at Crystal Palace for one of three gold medals for the club on Saturday.

Former Switzerland junior international 20-year-old Renfer stopped the clock at four minutes 29.94 seconds to win the women’s 1,500m, while Mary Iheke, 23, claimed women’s 400m gold in a time of 53.64secs. Pippa Wingate completed a medal weekend for the Kingsmeadow club when she threw 49.21m to land women’s hammer silver on Saturday, before claiming discus bronze on Sunday with an effort of 40.25m.

Kingston & Polytechnic Harrier Phoebe Law turned on the afterburners to claim the U20 girls 1,500 metre Surrey Schools’ Championship title on Saturday.

The 17-year-old clocked four minutes 30.46 seconds to triumph at Kingsmeadow, while Mollie O’Sullivan, 15, won the U15 girls race in a personal best time of 4:37.45.

Pippa Earley, 13, won the U15 girls 75m hurdles in 11.86secs and Mae Thompson, 18, won the U20 girls’ 400m hurdles in 63.72 seconds.

Walton Athletics Club’s throwers dominated the the field events at Kingsmeadow.

Sam Mace, 13, threw 39.44 metres to win the U15 boys discus by more than four metres, while sister Sophie, 15, claimed the U17 girls discus title with an effort of 40.41m – more than 13 metres further than the rest of the field.

Tait Jones, 13, threw 31.55m to win the U15 girls discus and 18-year-old Curtis Knight won gold in the U20 men’s hammer with a throw of 47.27m.

Nicola Bell, 13, set a new personal best of 34.48m to win the U15 girls javelin, while on the track Andrew Lomax, 16, clocked a brisk 58.37 seconds to win the U17 boys 400m hurdles title.
