Ollie Millroy is not one to give up on a lost cause and he is hoping to build on a South Korean horror show next month.

The 24-year-old Esher racer was part of the Taiwanese Team AAI outfit that finished third in the GT class at the Asian Le Mans Series Three Hours of Inje race on Sunday.

Technical problems hampered the team’s BMW Z4 GT3 – which had led the way midway through the race – and Millroy was forced to settle for third despite driving a blistering final leg.

He slashed the gap between him and second from 45 seconds to just 14 seconds in the final 40 minutes of the race leaving him with a sense of what might have been.

“It was a pretty frustrating weekend in all honesty,” he said.

“At no stage did we really have an opportunity to exploit the car’s full potential.

“Nothing seemed to go our way in the race, either. Tatsuya’s opening stint was very good and he was able to stick with the leading Mercedes throughout. We were all really hopeful we’d be right in the mix when it came to my turn.

“It didn’t work out like that, which is a massive shame because the car was definitely fast enough to win. I really had the bit between my teeth, even if bridging the gap to second always looked unlikely.”
