Hercules Wimbledon's older members ended their Southern Veterans League season on a winning note when they took the honours in the final men's match at Wimbledon Park, and finished second overall.

The club provided six winners during the match, in which three club records were set.

Early on, Esmond Ferns won the over-35 800m, with Dean Cheeseman taking the over-35 high jump and over-40 triple jump.

Team manager Dave Orchard had a busy time taking the over-50 discus and finishing runner-up in the 2km walk and javelin, and third in the triple jump.

Another individual winner was Stuart White who took the over-50 200m.

He also linked up with Ferns, Mark White and Dominic Bokor-Ingram to help Hercules Wimbledon win the 4x200m relay in a club record veterans over-35 time.

Richard Clark was another breaker in the veterans over-55 2km walk, while Charles Lawrie broke the veterans over-65 record in finishing runner-up in the over-60 triple jump.

He was also second in the over-60 200m and 800m.

Lisa Thomas broke two Hercules Wimbledon's women's veteran over-45 records in the women's match.

Her record-breaking performances were in the 200m and 5,000m.

Steph Robson also set a club veterans over-40 record in the 800m and Gina Galbraith broke the over-35 record in winning the 5,000m.

One of Hercules Wimbledon's oldest members, 70-year-old Peter Giles has set two club records.

He set a five-mile mark in the Claygate Country Show race and broke the 5km record in winning his age group title in the Veterans Athletic Club's over-70 veteran's 5km road race title in Battersea Park.

His time of 20 minutes 10 seconds ranks him third over-70 runner in the UK this season.

Anna Garnier won the women's over-55 title in Battersea Park.
