AFC Wimbledon keeper Ross Worner has a fight on his hands to reclaim the number one shirt from James Shea, according to boss Neal Ardley.

Shea, a summer signing from Harrow Borough, impressed Ardley enough during pre-season to earn the jersey ahead of Worner, and he has not looked back since.

Ardley said: “I told Ross at the end of last season that I would be bringing in some competition for him.

“I told both Ross and James that whoever performs best in pre-season would get the shirt.

“James conceded two goals, and Ross conceded six, but that was not the sole defining aspect, James’ all-round game edged it.”

He added: “Since the start of the season, James has played well and he is steadily getting better with every game.”
