Ricky Boylan is all set for his big English light-welterweight title showdown with Tyler "Tornado" Goodjohn after coming though his warm-up bout last Saturday with ease.

The 26-year-old from Carshalton recorded a four-round 40-35 points shut-out over Hungary’s Karoly Lakatos at SSE Arena, Wembley, to extend his perfect record to 12 straight victories.

And Boylan was pleased to return to the ring after a four-month lay off due to tibia stress fracture injury.

“It was just to blow the cobwebs off and get myself ready for October 11 with Tyler Goodjohn,” said the former Earlsfield ABC man.

“I’m in great shape and I’m just looking forward it, it’s the English title and I’m only two or three fights away from my goal when I turned pro which was to win the British title.”

And Boylan is confident he will succeed come the evening next month at The O2.

“I have huge respect for Tyler Goodjohn. Neither of us like taking a backward step so it’s going to be a great fight either way”, Boylan added.

“But all I know is come October 11 I’ll be English champion.”

Also on The O2 bill are Lee Selby, Anthony Joshua and John Ryder and tickets are available by calling either Matchroom Sport on 01277 359900 or 08448 24 48 24.
