Rosslyn Park exorcised a demon last Saturday when they recorded their first win at Blaydon’s Crow Trees ground since league rugby union began.

The 38-29 win saw them claim the four-try bonus for the fifth time in six matches.

Skipper Hugo Ellis led from the front with two tries, matched by winger Joe Ajuwa, with Sam Shires adding a fifth and fly half Scott Sneddon enjoying a 100 per cent day with the boot.

The win takes Park to third place in the National League One table, level on points with second club Fylde.

Head coach Alex Codling said: “I was delighted with the win and to get the try bonus point was the icing on the cake.

“It is the first time the club have won at Blaydon for more than 50 years, which highlights how tough it is to win there.

“It is was an extremely physical game but despite conceding a couple of soft tries we played with real intensity but the boys know there is still plenty to work on.

“A special mention goes to the fans who travelled a long way to support the boys it was hugely appreciated by myself and the team.

“With four of our opening six games having been away from home we are looking forward to being back at the Rock this Saturday versus Wharfedale and playing in front of our supporters.

"This promises to be another extremely tough encounter”.

Saturday’s opponents, Wharfedale, are currently on a poor run. After winning their opening two matches, they have lost their next four including a home thrashing by Blackheath last week.

But the Green Machine are never easy opponents and Park will need to be at their best to secure the points they need to maintain their title challenge.

Kick off at Priory Lane is 3pm.
