Croydon Harrier Peter Chambers clocked the second and fourth fastest individual times at the Priory cross-country relays in Reigate on Saturday.

The UCL student’s recent good form continued at apace on leg one in the competitive field, clocking 13 minutes and 18 seconds, the fourth fastest time of the day, for the 2.5 mile course to handover in the lead.

The remaining members of the scoring quartet Glenn Barden (16:44, 87th), Derham Moustakim (17:45, 129th) and Neil Aikman (17:08, 106th) ensured Croydon would place 17th in the 54-team field.

Chambers would later run on third leg for the B team and went three seconds quicker than his first effort to record the second fastest time of the afternoon.

The B squad would eventually finish 29th, with Robert Rye (181st, 19:42), Matthew Kiernan (105th, 17:08) and Andy Del Nevo (172nd, 19:21) completing the squad.

In the women’s event, Stevie Lawrence particularly shone, finishing eighth in a field of more than 100 runners in 17:18.

Radhika Shanmuganathan and Jules Williams completed the trio and ensured the team finished 27th with 35 teams closing in.
