AFC Wimbledon have signed Jake Reeves on a permanent deal, with boss Neal Ardley beating four League One sides to the midfielder's signature.

The 21-year-old is returning for a second spell at the Cherry Red Records stadium, having made five appearances at the end of 2012 during a loan spell cut short by Brentford.

Reeves signed for Swindon in the summer, but first team chances have been limited and he became available, opting for a return to the Dons, rather than staying in League One.

Ardley told the club's website: "Jake’s previous loan spell with us was cut short and he only played a handful of games. But in a team that was struggling I saw him in training every day and thought ‘wow, this player is so good’.

"When Brentford called him back I was devastated."

He added: "I was aware of the deal that he was on at Swindon and when he was not getting as many games as he would have hoped for I got straight onto his agent, who told me Jake was considering leaving.

"I said that Jake knows how much I rate him and I would love to have him back at Wimbledon.

"Four League One clubs tried to sign Jake and they all threw their hats in the ring once they heard Jake was going to be available.

"He’s going to be a great addition and I’m delighted.”

Moving on: Chris Arthur's loan spell to Woking has been made permanent

Meanwhile, winger Chris Arthur has left Dons for Woking after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

Ardley said: “We held half season reviews with all of the players and Chris reiterated his desire to play regular football.

“I could not guarantee Chris that and we looked at the best possible way for him to do this. We therefore agreed to cancel his contract by mutual consent. I wish Chris every success at Woking and in his future career.”

The 24 year old winger made 26 appearance in Dons colours having arrived from Havant & Waterlooville in the summer of 2013.

He will remain at Woking following a loan move in which he has made 27 appearances for the club.
