Former Team GB international Matt Daly was the toast of Sugden Road as Surbiton secured an MHL Premier Division play-off berth at the weekend, writes Stuart Amos.
Daly struck twice with his side trailing 3-1 at Wimbledon in the second half to secure a 3-3 draw on SAturday, with results on Sunday ensuring they would finish the season in the top four with four league games still to play.
The news came a week after the club’s women had also booked their play-off place where they will hope to defend the championship title they won last season.
Captain Sarah Haycroft’s team preserved their season-long unbeaten record with a dramatic 2-1 win over the University of Birmingham at Sugden Road on Saturday.
Emily Atkinson converted a penalty corner two minutes from time to claim victory ahead of this week’s trip to bottom club Beeston.
