Kingston’s Danny Parsons, right, is out to land a Lonsdale belt as he prepares for his first fully professional fight on July 4.
The 21-year-old former Queensbury Boxing League lightweight champion, makes his debut for Goodwin Promotions at York Hall this summer, but is not getting ahead of himself.
Parsons, who lives a stone’s throw from Kingstonian’s Kingsmeadow home, started his career at Battersea ABC and Surbiton ABC before moving to a new base at Imber Court, where he trains under Adam Martin.
“I loved my time in the Queensbury league, but I’d beaten everyone there and was running out of opponents,” he said.
“I’m a realistic person and honest with myself, so I won’t say I’m going to become a world champion.
“I’d love to win a Lonsdale belt above anything as it’s the nicest belt in boxing, so that’s what I’ll be aiming for.”
