Defending champion Andy Maud knocked a staggering 61 seconds off his winning time of 2014 to set a course record in the 32nd Air Products Elmbridge 10k on Sunday.

The 31-year-old clocked 30 minutes 47 seconds to win the long-standing Surrey Road League race - organised by Elmbridge Road Runners - ahead of second placed Newham & Essex athlete Jake Waldron (32:03).

Maud was tested by Waldron in the early stages and the pair were stride for stride with John Sanderson of Guildford and Godalming until 3km.

It was then that Maud, whose race plan weas to set off at five minutes per mile pace and hold on, opened a gap that was never to be closed..

Incredibly he increased his speed from 5km and held it through the second half of the race to average 4.57 minutes per mile to the finish line.

Souith London Harrier Steph McCall saw off the challenge of Hercules Wimbledon's Claire Grima, West 4 Harrier Rosamund Ponder and Aldershot's Bryony Proctor to win in 35.25 minutes.

Ranelagh Harriers won the men's team event to extend their lead in the Surrey Road League table while Wimbledon Windmilers won the Ladies team race.
