Neal Ardley and his players will be swapping the green grass for the red carpet on Sunday as AFC Wimbledon get a sneak preview of the new blockbuster Paper Towns.

Fans are encouraged to buy tickets and join them at the Odeon in Wimbledon in club colours.

At first glance, the link between a film aimed at teenagers and starring Cara Delevingne may not be immediately be obvious.

But fans will recognise the name John Green from the north stand.

John is the author of the book on which the film is based and also the writer of The Fault In Our Stars.

The club anticipates supporters will get behind the event, bringing their scarves and flags along on the night.

Cameras will record vox pops and interviews so fans can send messages to John Green for his support of the club.

AFC Wimbledon’s commercial director Ivor Heller said: “The support that John has shown us here at AFC Wimbledon has been awesome. This is our chance to give him something back. All our sponsors need our support whenever possible, but not many of them can influence a special screening of one of the biggest films of the year. Wear your colours and literally help us to send a message of thanks back to John in the USA!”

The screening is expected to be a sell-out and goodie bags will be available on the night including the book, The Fault in Our Stars DVD, a poster, badges and a Dons matchday programme.

As part of John’s links with the club, Paper Towns also sponsored AFC Wimbledon’s first game of the season against Plymouth Argyle.

The movie as adapted from John Green’s best-selling novel and is a coming-of-age story about Quentin (Nat Wolff) and his enigmatic neighbour Margo (Delevingne), who loves mysteries so much she became one.
