AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley has told his players they should fear no-one after a 2-0 win at Notts County lifted them into the League Two play-offs.

Goals from Tom Elliott and Andy Barcham proved too much for the Magpies on an afternoon dominated by the Dons.

That domination saw the Dons fired 10 shots on target, compared the hosts two – moreover, the Dons are now unbeaten in six, including four consecutive wins.

The afternoon did not begin well when Dannie Bulman felt his hamstring tighten in the warm-up, and rather than throw new signing Connor Smith into the action, Ardley switched Jon Meades into the centre.

Elliott opened the scoring on nine minutes, and it was not until the final 10 minutes that Barcham’s strike put the game to bed.

Ardley said: “We were outstanding from start to finish. To come to somewhere like Notts County and have 18 attempts on goal– if we had won 4-0 it would not have been a story.

“We cut them open time and time again, and only a mixture of our finishing, the woodwork and their keeper kept the score down.

“We dominated them from start to finish and it is as complete an away performance as you will ever get. I cannot give the boys enough credit, they were superb.”

He added: “The only thing I can criticise the boys for is that they left it so long before putting the game to bed.

“I was worried it might turn out to be one of those days where you don’t take the points, but we finished it off, and in the last 10 minutes we could have had a few more.”

The past six games, with the Dons picking up 14 points out of a possible 18, are in stark contrast to the previous six games when they won only six.

Ardley said: “We have been trying to get to this point all season, we’ve had a lot of new faces trying to capture their form and now they are hitting it.

“They are fighting for each other, the team spirit is wonderful – I have told them over and over, just carry on what you’re doing, don’t fear anyone.

“I would not want to play against us and we can tear anyone apart when we play like that.”
