Spinner Nishel Patel produced his best league bowling spell for Teddington since taking 4-43 against Brondesbury in 2009 to help his side to the Middlesex County League Premier Division summit on Saturday.

Patel (4-37) and James Ladd-Gibbon (4-37) combined to dismiss bottom-club Eastcote for 126, having earlier posted a target of 224-8 at Bushy Park thanks largely to Tom Twiney (56) and Tim Armstrong (80).

Wandsworth Times:

In the runs: Tom Twiney has already scored more than 500 runs this summer for Teddington

The 98-run victory has the 2014 champions six points clear of nearest rivals North Middlesex at the top of the table.

It is set to be a thrilling finish to the campaign with only 17 points separating the top five, including Richmond, with four games to play.

Eastcote appear doomed at the foot of the table and with only eight points separating Stanmore, Twickenham, Shepherds Bush and Hampstead above them the fight for survival is set to be as close as the title race.

Twickenham are five points clear of the dropzone after an 88-run defeat at fellow strugglers at Shepherds Bush, while Richmond fell three runs short of victory as they were held to 230-7 chasing Hampstead’s 232 all out at Old Deer Park.

Meanwhile, Barnes, second in Division Two, remained in the hunt for promotion thanks to a 56-run home victory over Highgate.

Fixtures: Teddington v Shepherds Bush, Ealing v Twickenham, Eastcote v Richmond, Brondesbury v Barnes.
