AFC Wimbledon may still be looking for a first League One win of the season, but chief executive Erik Samuelson is not unduly worried.

A haul of two points from a possible 15 leaves the Dons at the foot of the table ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Chesterfield.

Goals from Dom Poleon (two) and Andy Barcham did finally get the Dons off the mark on Tuesday, albeit in the Checkatrade Trophy against Swansea City U23s.

And Samuelson has every confidence the first win the league is not far away.

“I am pleased that we look at home in this league – I know the results do not necessarily reflect that, but in all the games I have been to, with the exception of a 20-minute spell against Scunthorpe where we struggled a bit, we have looked like a match for the team we’re playing,” he said.

“We are yet to reflect that in league points – but I am positive we will be fine this season.”

He added: “It was nice to get a win the other night, even if it was not against a league team, so hopefully that will got that monkey off the players’ backs.

“It won’t be long before that first win comes in the league, then we will be on our way and we will be fine.”
