New signing Tom Davis has vowed to bring some flair to the AFC Wimbledon midfield after being snapped up from Blue Square Premier outfit Lewes.
Davis, a mainstay last season as the Rooks stormed to the Conference South title, arrived at Kingsmeadow two weeks ago for an undisclosed fee.
And the 24-year-old is eager to please his new paymasters.
He said: "For Lewes, I was a holding midfielder, getting the ball off the back four and passing it.
"I like to get the ball down and play.
"People have accused me of over-playing but I think it is better than just hoofing it up in the air.
"Terry Brown wants me to play a bit further forward and I am looking forward to that."
Lewes underwent a turbulent end-of-season shake-up, with boss Steve King being sacked.
And former England C international Davis admitted he was glad to leave the chaos at the Dripping Pan behind.
He added: "No one wins the league and then sacks the manager!
"A new consortium have come in and they just seem to want players from the Brighton area.
"I don't even think they want the side to be in the Blue Square Premier."
Davis has set his sights on climbing the leagues as part of a new-look Dons side.
But he has warned fans things will not come easily.
Davis said: "It will be tough and the players will find it hard at first.
"In the Blue Square, players are fitter and a lot stronger. You do not get any easy goals like you might in the Ryman League.
"But AFC Wimbledon is a massive club.
"I did not realise just how big until I came here and saw the ground and the crowds.
"The place is ready for league football."
