Seb Brown reckons AFC Wimbledon will reap the rewards of his spell between the sticks for England C as the Dons keeper continues to draw rave reviews for his displays this season.

Brown helped the national non-league side to a 1-0 triumph over Belgium in Luton on Wednesday night, booking their place in the International Trophy final against either Italy or Portugal in the process.

And the 21-year-old hopes this is just the start of a long career at international level.

Brown said: “To get to play for your country is massive and it is the highest level I could perform at at this stage of my career.

“To get to play in games like that is a great experience and it is a big help to my development.

“From a standard point of view to get to test yourself against continental teams is very different to the teams you get in the Blue Square Premier.

“The balls coming into the box have a lot more quality and you have to stay alert for every second and testing myself against strikers of that calibre can only improve me as a player.”

Brown was joined by fellow Dons Sam Hatton and Steven Gregory in the Belgium clash.

And the keeper revealed the methods of England boss Paul Fairclough have also helped his game.

Brown added: “Paul is very big on the psychological aspects of the game and we do a lot of things in camp like interviews and team meetings.

“It is all about expressing yourself, building a team spirit and putting everybody at ease.

“Everybody really gets on and it is great to take that away with you when you go back to your clubs.”

Up next for Brown and his teammates is a Saturday clash with York City as Wimbledon look to keep their grip on top spot.

And Brown is expecting yet another tough test.

He added: “I reckon it will be a very difficult game.

“York are no mugs as they showed us last week.

“They may have started the season slowly but they are in decent form now.

“I think there were a lot of factors that contributed to our defeat last week and we are not going to dwell on that.

“We have to concentrate on putting points on the board and keeping the pressure on Crawley and Luton.”
