Quins scrum half Karl Dickson flew to paradise and back to answer head coach Stuart Lancaster's England call ahead of this weekend's Six Nations clash with France.

The 29-year-old was drafted into the squad on Monday as cover for injured number nine Joe Simpson - a day and a half into a week-long break in Jamaica.

Dickson had been given this week off by Quins director of rugby Conor O'Shea after Friday's 9-9 draw with Newcastle Falcons and jetted off to the Caribbean on Saturday only to be called back less than 48 hours later.

London Wasps Simpson dislocated his shoulder on Premiership duty at the weekend forcing Lancaster to call up Dickson.

"After only a day and a half in Jamiaca I have finally landed back in London. Looking forward to my week with England," Dickson said on Twitter.

The Stoop star, who arrived back in the UK on Tuesday morning after setting off on Monday, is unlikely to feature in the matchday 22 in France on Sunday with brother Lee and Leicester Tigers scrum half Ben Youngs ahead of him in the pecking order.

Wasps lock Joe Launchbury, 20, has also been drafted into the England squad.
